Black people have been surfing for centuries (Africa’s Gold Coast) but due to high cost of surfing, historical redlining, discriminatory practices at beaches and the myth that hanging ten is an activity for bleach blond white boys, Blacks and especially Black women/girls have traditionally not partaken.
